Cynthia Taylor Bio

Cynthia A. Taylor, MD is a physician and mindfulness teacher with over 30 years of experience working with individuals, families, and communities. Her work integrates clinical experience with mindfulness, yoga, and contemplative practices, offering a grounded and practical approach to developing meaning, health, joy, and well-being.

Having been introduced to meditation and yoga at a young age, she has been able to integrate these practices into her medical work. She has continued to study ongoing medical scientific research documenting the effects of these practices, while maintaining a private practice of psychiatry. She has been dedicated to providing preventative care throughout her medical career. In 2014, she created a course for psychiatry residents teaching Mindfulness Meditation, Yoga, and Food as Medicine. She began teaching in-person Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Yoga classes in 2016, created Ongoing Mindfulness Courses, and included online courses in 2020.

Her teaching integrates contemplative practices with an awareness of our inherent connection with nature and with each other. Working with indigenous people has provided her with a living classroom of ancient teachings and practices that are alive in these cultures today. They include the Navajo people in Arizona, Tshiluba people in Zaire, and the Huichol people of Mexico. The power of their mythology, chants, ceremonies, and sense of community affects their health and well-being on all levels. She brings the truths and practices underlying their cultures into her teachings for the well-being of all people.

Cynthia is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist and Family Physician, Certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher, a 500 E-RYT advanced yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, a level-2 yoga and yoga nidra teacher certified through the Bihar School of Yoga, and a Functional Medicine Consultant.
